Field Trip
Depart 8:00am, Return to hotel by 4:00pm
Join us for a day in the field looking at current research plots in southern pine management.
Stops: Loblolly pine research trials.
Stops include visits to:

  • Culture-Density research trial with planting densities ranging from 300 – 1800 trees per acre.
  • Accelerated Pine Productivity research trial nearing rotation age with a 2×2 factorial with fertilization and competition control.
  • Mid-Rotation Treatment study looking at the impacts of thinning intensity combined with a 2×2 factorial with fertilization and competition control, along with an non-thinned counterpart as a thinning control.
  • Other stops as time permits.

Field Trip Cost: $30 per person, includes lunch

About the Conference
We are excited to announce the call for abstracts for the 2017 SOMENS Conference. The conference will be held at the Hotel Indigo in downtown Athens, Georgia (http://www.indigoathens.com) from Sunday, October 22 – Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

Abstract Submission Deadline Extended
The call for abstracts is open for the 2017 SOMENS meeting around any area that is related to forestry measurements, modeling, inventory, growth and yield, planning, analysis, etc. We know this is a busy time of year for many. We're extending the abstract submission deadline to Friday, September 22 (same day as the end of the early-bird registration discount). Please email abstracts to the conference organizers; emails listed at the bottom left of the page.
